Admission Requirements for Nursing Programs

Admissions

Note, as part of the application process, you should not select any Nursing program as a second choice. If you select a Nursing program as a second choice, you will not be assessed for Nursing if you are accepted into your first choice program. Always select a Nursing program as your first choice only.

Each Nursing program at StFX has specific admission deadlines. Applications must be received between when the application opens and before the deadline to apply for the specific  program.

Students who wish to be considered for Nursing must select Nursing as their first-choice program on the application. Second choice Nursing applications will not be considered. Please review the information below for the option you are considering:

Applicants who wish to be considered for a StFX Nursing program must meet the academic requirements outlined in the dropdown menus below.  However, meeting minimum requirements is not a guarantee of admission.  In addition, a CASPer test is still required for the Two-year Accelerated Nursing option which begins in January 2025 and all application deadlines must be followed.

Please see the CASPer page for test dates and information on how to register.

Admission to our Nursing program options is competitive. Meeting the minimum average does not guarantee admission. It is the applicant's responsibility to ensure they have a complete application available for assessment; this includes reference submissions and employer hour reports.

Transfer students, please submit both post-secondary transcripts as well as secondary. Please note that CASPer is no longer required for admission to this program.

StFX will release offers of admission to Nursing beginning early in the Fall of 2024 for September 2025 entry. Students will be notified by email of acceptance. Please note applicants will be reviewed for admission each round of offers that are released. The final round of offers will be released in March. All applicants will receive notification of the decision on their application at that time.

Students applying to the Nursing program should select a second-choice program with their first-choice application to Nursing. Students who receive an offer to their second-choice program can accept an offer to residence before Nursing offers have been released and will receive equal consideration to their first choice of Nursing.
