Same Day Counselling Appointments (NEW)
Each day the Health and Counselling Centre is open (M-F), there is a limited number of “Same Day Counselling” appointments with Mental Health Counsellors. These are standalone sessions that offer professional support for a single concern. You can sign up for a same day counselling appointment whenever needed, and you’re welcome to come back any time.
These appointments open for online booking each morning at 7:30am and are reserved on a first-come, first-served basis; they cannot be booked prior to the day of the appointment. You can also stop by the H+C Centre any time after 8:30am to sign up for these spots. If all the same day spots are already booked, just check online or come back the following day when the next day’s appointments open up. Please book early in the day to have the greatest choice of same day appointment times.

Mental Health Intake Appointments
For more complex mental health concerns, you can book online or in person for an appointment with our Community Mental Health Nurse. When booking these appointments online, choose the Mental Health Intake option, either virtual or in-person. The nurse will meet with you privately to discuss your concerns and she will recommend a plan for follow-up, as needed. This may or may not include follow-up with a counsellor. All available Mental Health Intake appointments are visible online a week in advance, with same-day appointments opening daily at 7:30 am. If all the Intake appointments are already booked, simply log in the next day at 7:30am and another whole day’s worth of appointments will be visible (plus the same-day Intake appointments).
How to access our services
General information about booking appointments
- All students must register with Pomelo before they can book their appointments online. Please register for Pomelo here.
- Once you have registered for Pomelo, you can book appointments here.
- When you book online, you will see all available appointments for the next 7 days. We also reserve several appointments every day for same-day access. Each weekday morning at 7:30 am new appointments open up, including the same-day access appointments for that day. If you try to book online and it looks like nothing is available, check back at 7:30 am the next day and the newly opened appointments will be showing.
- When you receive an email reminder for a booked appointment, please check carefully for the time zone indicated in your reminder. The correct time for your appointment is Nova Scotia time (Atlantic Standard Time); not the time zone of your home province, as may be indicated in your reminder.
- If you need to cancel your appointment, you have several options: 1) cancel in Pomelo, 2) call 902-867-2263, 3) stop by the Health and Counselling Centre, or 4) email @email.
- If you wish to cancel a scheduled appointment, we require 24 hours notification prior to your scheduled appointment time, or a late fee of $50.00 will be charged to your student account. This allows us to offer that space to another student who needs it; please help us in not wasting any of our valuable health care resources.
- If you have trouble registering or booking an online appointment, please call the Health and Counselling Centre at 902-867-2263 during office hours for assistance.
