Greg Amirault, originally from Nova Scotia, lives in Montreal, QC where he is an active member of the local jazz scene and has been teaching jazz guitar for 25+ years. 

Greg received the Grand Prix de Jazz General Motors award from the Montreal International Jazz Festival in 2000 with the Eduardo Pipman Quartet. He also won a Prix d’Opus for Concert-of-the-Year with the Altsys Jazz Orchestra under the direction of Maria Schneider. His CD, East of the Sun, was nominated for an EMCA Award for Jazz Album of the Year in 2015.

As a leader, he has recorded three CDs: Acadian Folk Song, East of the Sun, and News Blues

Greg Amirault has recorded with the Eduardo Pipman Quartet and singers George Evans and Doreen Smith. He has also recorded for CBC radio with world-renowned harmonicist Howard Levy (Bela Fleck and the Flecktones) and has been performing for the past 30 years in Montreal with some of Canada’s finest musicians such as Joel Miller, Kevin Dean, Jim Doxas, Don Thompson, Andre White, Steve Amirault, Adrian Vedady, Kieran Overs, Wray Downes, Fraser
Hollins, Dave Laing, Howard Levy, Ira Coleman, and Remi Bolduc.
