Canada Student Assistance Funding and Grants
The Canada Student Grant for Students with Disabilities (CSG-D) and the Canada Student Grant for Services and Equipment for Persons with Disabilities (CSG-DSE) help full and part-time postsecondary students with the costs of their disability-related educational services and equipment.
By submitting a CSG-D/CSG-DSE application, you may receive assistance for the disability-related accommodations you need, such as note-takers, tutors, interpreters, or technical aids while you’re in post-secondary studies.
How Much Can I Get?
The amount of aid provided depends on the costs of your required disability-related educational services and equipment as well as your functional limitations and recommendations in submitted disability documentation.
The maximum funding for the academic year is:
- CSG-D: $2800
- CSG-DSE: up to $20,000 (amount granted depends on recommended supports and ability to use services)
About Service and Equipment Purchases
Not all disability-related services and equipment are eligible for funding. This includes purchases before your application is approved. Equipment and software purchased more than 60 days before your study period start date will not be eligible for CSG-DSE.
The costs of a Psychoeducational Assessment with a learning disability diagnosis may be eligible for CSG-DSE. To be considered, your assessment must have taken place no more than 6 months before your study start date.
Please find information specific to your province here.
EACH PROVINCE HAS SPECIFIC DEADLINES for the submission of CSG-DSE grant applications. It is the student’s responsibility to know and adhere to these deadlines.
