Kristine is a Nurse Educator in the Elizabeth & Thomas Rankin School of Nursing at St Francis Xavier University. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science from Ithaca College, NY (1990) and spent her early career in healthcare working as an Exercise Physiologist in Cardiac & Pulmonary Rehabilitation. After becoming interested in nursing, Kristine graduated with her Associate in Applied Science from Phoenix College (1998) and her Master of Science in Nursing from University of Phoenix (2007). Her clinical passion is cardiovascular health and wellness, and her clinical experiences have included acute coronary care, progressive care, intensive care, and community-based cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation. She is a member of the American Association of Critical Care Nurses (AACN).

Before beginning her position at StFX, Kristine had been involved in nursing education for over 15 years, first as a Clinical Education Specialist for a large hospital system in Arizona and most recently as an Associate Professor in a nursing program in Geneva, NY where she was honored with the college’s Excellence in Teaching Award in 2018.  She also taught as adjunct faculty in an RN to BSN transition program. Her various educational experiences have provided an opportunity to work with a diverse population of learners and to explore a wide range of learning modalities. 

In my teaching, I have adopted a learner-based andragogical approach designed to engage the learner to further explore ideas that enhance their understanding of key concepts and develop critical thinking skills. My teaching style recognizes each student as a partner in the learning process. Meeting each student where they are, and adapting instruction to best facilitate student growth towards outcome achievement, is an important aspect of my teaching.
