Brad Long
Dr. Brad Long is Associate Professor of Management at StFX's Gerald Schwartz School of Business, and he has been the inaugural John T. Sears Chair in Corporate Social Responsibility since 2018.
Dr. Long’s areas of specialization include business ethics, human resource management and leadership. His research has been published widely in the Journal of Business Ethics, Critical Perspectives on International Business, the Journal of Organizational Change Management and more. He has published teaching cases in books and case repositories. In 2009, Dr. Long received StFX’s Outstanding Teaching Award.
Dr. Long is also active in many roles on campus through his service on departmental and university committees, as well as StFXAUT, the academic union, for which he has been president and chief negotiator as well as other executive positions. Dr. Long currently coordinates the Schwartz School’s efforts to uphold commitment to the UN PRME initiative. He served for five years as department chair (2015–20). Dr. Long maintains an active role as an advisor and supervisor for students completing honours theses, in case competitions, and for a summer research internship program which he created, funds, and manages in cooperation with the Coady Institute.
Dr. Long joined StFX in 2002 after eight years in the private sector in progressively senior management positions in industries ranging from aerospace to information technology and consulting. In 2021, he was appointed to the Nova Scotia Labour Board as an employee representative. Dr. Long’s degrees include a PhD (Management), M.B.A., and B.A. (Hons), and he maintains the CPA (CMA) professional designation in Nova Scotia.
