StFX psychology professor Dr. Margo Watt has received national recognition for her most recent book, Cases in Clinical Forensic Psychology, receiving the 2024 Significant Contribution Award presented by the Criminal Justice Section of the Canadian Psychological Association.
The award recognizes a recently completed work that makes a significant contribution to the application of psychology to criminal behaviour, criminal justice, and/or law. In addition to meeting the eligibility criteria, the nominated contribution is assessed on measures of quality, innovation and potential impact.
“This is a well-deserved recognition,” says StFX psychology professor and colleague Dr. Chris Lively. “The endorsements on the book were impressive, as were the adjudicating committees' views regarding their award decision.”

Each chapter of Dr. Watt’s book is written in collaboration with students and colleagues and serves as a model of meaningful collaboration and partnership.
Dr. Watt says she is grateful, humbled, and honoured to receive this award.

This honour is particularly special given that the book was truly a labour of love, one which I was able to share with current and former students and colleagues, in which I was able to cast a truly clinical forensic lens on important Canadian criminal cases - cases that beg our attention and deserve our analysis.”
