Pathy Foundation Fellowship
Big congratulations to our very own Jami Horne who received a Pathy Foundation Fellowship to do research in Wolfville, NS this year. This is a significant opportunity for her to pursue health-related research informed by community work that has the ability to increase accessible leadership, volunteer, and employment opportunities for high school students with physical and intellectual disabilities. Although Jami deserves a lot of credit for this award, I’d like to also recognize Dr. Katie Aubrecht for her mentorship and role in all of this. Dr. Aubrecht, who is a Canada Research Chair in Health Equity and Social Justice, leads an interdisciplinary research program that maps health services, social policies, and community resources related to marginality, mental health, and resilience across the life span, with a focus on rural communities in Atlantic Canada.
