Open Educational Resources Publishing 101 - Introduction to Pressbooks

This 1-hour interactive workshop introduces faculty to open textbooks and the benefits they can bring to student learning, faculty pedagogical practice, and social justice on campus. This workshop will be of particular interest to faculty members interested in submitting an application in the 2025 round of the Atlantic OER Developement Grants. Participants will be granted access to the Pressbooks platform. 

Upon completing the Open Educational Resources (OER) Faculty Workshop, participants will be able to: 

  • Develop a basic understanding of the history and value of Open Educational Resources;
  • Understand the differences between copyright and Creative Commons Licensing;
  • Discuss open pedagogy practices;
  • Obtain a basic understanding of the AtlanticOER publishing platform, Pressbooks.

*Registration is required so that attendees can be set up with a Pressbooks sandbox account leading up to the workshop. As a result, registration will close on January 17th at the end of the day to allow time for the creation of these accounts. 

Note - In the event of inclement weather resulting in campus closure, this workshop will take place the following Wednesday, January 29th, from 1:30 - 2:03 p.m in Room 202.
