A message from StFX President Dr. Andy Hakin

To the StFX Community,

I write to inform you that, on behalf of StFX, I have added my signature and support to The Association of Catholic Colleges and Universities in Canada’s formal request for an apology from His Holiness Pope Francis to the survivors of the residential school system, their families and all Indigenous communities. I have attached a copy of the request for your reference.

StFX is located in Mi’kma’ki, the unceded ancestral territory of the Mi'kmaw people. The Mi'kmaw name for Antigonish is Nalikitquniejk, meaning ‘place where branches are torn off.’
