Education faculty are dedicated to helping prepare those with a passion for teaching by combining theory and practice to prepare you for the classroom. We make sure you are job-ready by exposing you to a range of electives, from literacy to music to computers, and doing so in a personalized way.

Bachelor of Education

Our four-semester Bachelor of Education program integrates teaching, research, and service within an innovative learning environment. You’ll learn from professors who are themselves accomplished educators.

The Master of Education program is grounded in two main purposes: (a) to provide a space for you to understand your professional knowledge; and (b) to make meaningful links between this knowledge and the conceptual and theoretical framework of educational research.

Ph.D. in Educational Studies

Along with Acadia University and Mount Saint Vincent University (MSVU), StFX is pleased to offer a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Educational Studies. Launched in 2011, this inter-university program helps scholars develop the advanced knowledge and research skills that are vital in today’s changing educational landscape.

Master of Adult Education

The Master of Adult Education (MAdEd) program at St. Francis Xavier University focuses on the links between theory and practice in a variety of sectors that involve adult education and learning, including community contexts, community colleges, and the health sector, among others.

StFX is located in Mi’kma’ki, the unceded ancestral territory of the Mi'kmaw people. The Mi'kmaw name for Antigonish is Nalikitquniejk, meaning ‘place where branches are torn off.’
