National Entrance Scholarship Program

All applicants with a final average of 85% or higher will be considered for an entrance scholarship.

The final value of the entrance scholarship awarded and applied to students is based on final marks for the five Grade 12 courses used to meet admission requirements for your program. Please note that final Grade 11 equivalent subject marks may be used in the interim to estimate the entrance scholarship to be awarded.

Major & Application based Scholarships

To be eligible for the scholarships listed below, you must apply to StFX and submit a first semester Grade 12 transcript by March 1. Major scholarship eligibility is based on final marks for the five Grade 12 courses used to meet admission requirements for your program. Evelyn & Denis Morris Family Scholarship	$20,000 ($5,000, renewable for 4 years)	All 1st-year, full-time undergraduate catholic students that demonstrate financial need and leadership qualities. Minimum 85% average. This scholarship is only offered every 2 years, next deadline March 1st, 2023. Open to all Canadian residents.
Chadwick-Hayes Scholarship	$30,000 ($7,500 renewable for 4 years).	James Chadwick and Julia (Hayes) Chadwick graduated from St. Francis Xavier University in 1959 and 1960 respectively. Their time at StFX shaped their personal and professional lives and how they contributed to their community. This award is meant to reflect the opportunity that was given to them by the University and the Xaverian community. High school students in western Quebec and eastern Ontario are eligible (North Bay and all points east; southeast to Belleville and all points northeast). Minimum 85% average and demonstrated StFX qualities of leadership and service to community.
Upton-Girard Family Leadership Award	$16,000 ($4,000, renewable for 4 years)	All 1st-year, full-time undergraduate BBA students that demonstrate financial need and StFX qualities of leadership and service to community. Memorial Scholarship for Women in Engineering	$1,000 for one year only.	This award is provided to a first year female engineering student who has the highest midterm marks. This scholarship was established by the Senate of St. Francis Xavier University to commemorate the women who died at Ecole Polytechnique in Montreal on December 6th, 1989. The presentation of this award takes place following the Ceremony held annually to remember the fourteen women who died in Montreal. This award can be held in combination with any StFX award. No application process.
C MacLeod Grant	$20,000 ($5,000, renewable for 4 years).	All 1st-year, full-time undergraduate students with a superior average, graduating in the top 5% of their class. Minimum 96% average and demonstrated StFX qualities of leadership and service to community. This scholarship is only offered every 4 years, next deadline March 1st, 2023. Westbury Family Scholarship	$10,000 ($2,500, renewable for 4 years).	All 1st-year, full-time undergraduate students. Minimum 85% average and demonstrated StFX qualities of leadership and service to community. Offered every 4 years, next deadline March 1st, 2023. Open to all Canadian residents.
Alphonse Desjardins Community Scholarship	$20,000 ($5,000, renewable for 4 years).	All 1st-year, undergraduate students who are a member of a credit union. Preference will be given to students who demonstrate active involvement in credit union and/or co-operative activities in their high school career. Minimum 96% average. Offered every 4 years, next deadline March 1st, 2024. Open to all Canadian residents.
Dr. J. William McGowan Family Scholarship	$8,000 for one year only.	All 1st-year, undergraduate students, enrolled in a full-time undergraduate science program. Must be involved in student activities and demonstrate financial need. Minimum 85% average. This award can be held in combination with any StFX award. Open to all Canadian residents.
Alumni Accessible Learning	$2,000 for 1 year only.	This award has been established by the StFX Alumni Association to provide an annual award for first year students who meet the Centre for Accessible Learning admission requirements. Minimum 70% average, student must have registration with the Tramble room. This award will be awarded in September and can be held in combination with any StFX award. Open to all nationalities.
Alumni Endowment	$500 for 1 year only.	This award is available to students from any area who are entering any program at StFX. Students will only be considered for the award if they have parents that are StFX Alumni. Minimum 85% average. This award can be held in combination with any StFX award. Open to all nationalities.

This scholarship was established by the Senate of St. Francis Xavier University to commemorate the women who died at Ecole Polytechnique in Montreal on December 6th, 1989. The presentation of this award takes place following the Ceremony held annually to remember the fourteen women who died in Montreal. This award can be held in combination with any StFX award. Memorial Scholarship for Women in Engineering	$1,000 for one year only.	This award is provided to a first year female engineering student who has the highest midterm marks. This scholarship was established by the Senate of St. Francis Xavier University to commemorate the women who died at Ecole Polytechnique in Montreal on December 6th, 1989. The presentation of this award takes place following the Ceremony held annually to remember the fourteen women who died in Montreal. This award can be held in combination with any StFX award. BMO Financial Group Scholarship	$20,000 ($5,000, renewable for 4 years)	All 1st-year, full-time undergraduate students. Student must rank in the top 5% of their high school class and have a superior grade point average. Minimum 96% average. This scholarship is only offered every 4 years, next deadline March 1, 2024. Evelyn & Denis Morris Family Scholarship	$20,000 ($5,000, renewable for 4 years)	All 1st-year, full-time undergraduate catholic students that demonstrate financial need and leadership qualities. Jeannine Deveau Scholarship	$15,000 ($3,000, renewable for 5 years)	Mi’kmaq or Wolastoqiyik Candidates who self-identify as Mi’kmaq or Wolastoqiyik in this application will be considered for scholarships funded under the Jeannine Deveau Equity Endowment Fund. Note: For the purposes of the StFX scholarship, eligible candidates are people who are identified as Mi’kmaq by the Mi’kmaq communities of Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, PEI or Wolastoqiyik by the Wolastoqiyik communities of New Brunswick. African Nova Scotian Candidates who self-identity as African Nova Scotian in this application will be considered for scholarship funded under the Jeannine Deveau Equity Endowment Fund. For the purpose of the StFX scholarship, eligible candidates are people who identify themselves as Indigenous Black Nova Scotian. Memorial Scholarship for Women in Engineering	$1,000 for one year only.	This award is provided to a first year female engineering student who has the highest midterm marks. This scholarship was established by the Senate of St. Francis Xavier University to commemorate the women who died at Ecole Polytechnique in Montreal on December 6th, 1989. The presentation of this award takes place following the Ceremony held annually to remember the fourteen women who died in Montreal. This award can be held in combination with any StFX award. No application process.
C MacLeod Grant	$20,000 ($5,000, renewable for 4 years).	All 1st-year, full-time undergraduate students with a superior average, graduating in the top 5% of their class. Minimum 96% average and demonstrated StFX qualities of leadership and service to community. This scholarship is only offered every 4 years, next deadline March 1st, 2023. Open to all Canadian residents.
Westbury Family Scholarship	$10,000 ($2,500, renewable for 4 years).	All 1st-year, full-time undergraduate students. Minimum 85% average and demonstrated StFX qualities of leadership and service to community. Offered every 4 years, next deadline March 1st, 2023. Open to all Canadian residents.
Alphonse Desjardins Community Scholarship	$20,000 ($5,000, renewable for 4 years).	All 1st-year, undergraduate students who are a member of a credit union. Preference will be given to students who demonstrate active involvement in credit union and/or co-operative activities in their high school career. Minimum 96% average. Offered every 4 years, next deadline March 1st, 2024. Open to all Canadian residents.
Dr. J. William McGowan Family Scholarship	$8,000 for one year only.	All 1st-year, undergraduate students, enrolled in a full-time undergraduate science program. Must be involved in student activities and demonstrate financial need. Minimum 85% average. This award can be held in combination with any StFX award. Open to all Canadian residents.
Alumni Accessible Learning	$2,000 for 1 year only.	This award has been established by the StFX Alumni Association to provide an annual award for first year students who meet the Centre for Accessible Learning admission requirements. Minimum 70% average, student must have registration with the Tramble room. This award will be awarded in September and can be held in combination with any StFX award. Open to all nationalities.
Alumni Endowment	$500 for 1 year only.	This award is available to students from any area who are entering any program at StFX. Students will only be considered for the award if they have parents that are StFX Alumni. Minimum 85% average. This award can be held in combination with any StFX award. Open to all nationalities.
Sodexo Canada Award in Nutrition	$5,000 for 1 year only.	All 1st-year, undergraduate students who have been accepted into the Bachelor of Science in Human Nutrition program. Minimum 94% average. This award can be held in combination with any StFX award. Open to all residents of Nova Scotia, New Brunswick or Prince Edward Island.
Daniel and Margaret O'Brien	$3,000 for one year only.	All 1st-year, undergraduate students., Student must be Irish Catholics who exhibit leadership ability, energy, good will and service to his or her fellow man. Minimum 85% average. This award can be held in combination with any StFX award. Open to students from the Atlantic provinces.

Transfer Scholarships

Applicants who are enrolled in a full time course load at another post secondary institution in the current application year, and are being accepted at StFX for the upcoming academic year with an average of 80% or higher, are eligible to apply.
