Sara-Lynne Knockwood is a Canadian taekwondo athlete and is from the Sipekne'katik First Nation. She was a 3-time gold medalist at the North American Indigenous Games (NAIG), having won two golds in 2002 (Winnipeg, MN) and a gold and a silver in 2006 (Denver, CO). Also, in 2002, she won the Open World Championship in Miami in the Under-16 lightweight division. In 2016, Knockwood became the first woman to be inducted into the Mi'kmaw Sport Hall of Fame.
Knockwood earned a Human Kinetics degree at StFX and was recently inducted into the Nova Scotia Hall of Fame in June 2023. Inductees are recognized for their outstanding contributions to Nova Scotia sport. She continues her work within Indigenous sport as the Director of Sport and Vene for NAIG 2023. In this role, she oversaw the delivery of all 16 sports and ensured that venues were prepared to host them accordingly. The induction will take place November 23 at the Lighthouse Arts Center in Halifax.
