Educational Administration And Policy Stream

The Educational Administration and Policy Stream is designed to support the professional and academic learning of practicing educators who are seeking advanced study in relation to all aspects of educational leadership. The program aims to provide students with opportunities to explore the complexity of three main areas of leadership: Leadership and administrative theories and practices, instructional leadership and legal and policy dimensions of administration. The required core courses in the educational administration and policy stream, Leadership and Administrative Theories, Professional Development and Supervision, and Dynamics of Change are designed to explore both the theoretical and practical elements of educational leadership and policy. 

First Summer:
534 Introduction to the Foundations of Education - 3 Credits
505 Introduction to Educational Research - 3 Credits 

Educational Administration and Policy Core classes to be taken prior to final research course:
561 Leadership and Administrative Theories - 3 Credits
533 Dynamics of Change - 3 Credits
573 Professional Development and Supervision - 3 Credits

Final Research Course (prior to July 2025):
507 Qualitative Research Methods in Education - 3 Credits (Thesis students only) 
or        
508 Critical Research Literacy in Education - 3 Credits (Project students only as of July 2025)

Electives are to be selected from the graduate courses offered in education. No substitution or transfer of credit will normally be allowed in core courses.
